This website

iServeData is my technology journal, project portfolio and photo archive. If you’d like to know about me, my biography tells that story; this page is about the site itself.

Every page starts as a plain Markdown file. Hugo turns those files into a static site, and Nginx serves it from my own Ubuntu Linux server. Changes go to a private prototype copy of the site first, and only go live once I’ve checked them there.

AI-assisted development

I design, build, test and run this site, from the server and its security settings to the pages you’re reading. Perplexity Computer is an AI-assisted development tool I use alongside that work, for help with code, troubleshooting and technical documentation.

Using it doesn’t mean the site’s code, writing, testing or day-to-day running is AI-generated or automated. The decisions, and the checks before anything goes live, stay with me.

Privacy

  • There are no analytics, ads, trackers or tracking cookies.
  • Nothing loads from anyone else: the fonts, images and scripts all come from iservedata.com, and the site’s security settings block outside requests.
  • If you pick a light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your own browser and never sent anywhere.
  • Like most web servers, mine keeps standard access logs (address, page and time) for troubleshooting and security. They aren’t shared or used to profile anyone.
  • The contact form sends your message to my inbox as a single email. The form’s service stores nothing; its log keeps only a request number, the outcome and how long it took, not your name, address or message. To stop floods, it counts sends using a scrambled form of your IP address, held in memory and cleared within a day.

The photography is all mine. Everything else that came from someone else is listed here.
